- Paragliding, hiking (on the Zwolferhorn & Schafberg mountains or around Lake Wolfgang), cycling (bike hire available from town), mountain biking (take your bike in the cable car onto the Zwolferhorn - 30km of gravelled forest roads at 1,492 metres), running - 9km running routes on asphalt around Lake Wolfgang, paragliding from the Zwolferhorn - for more information visit www.paragleiten.net. - Day trips to the historic town of St Wolfgang and Stroble by steamer boat or bus. See attached bus timetables (PDF 192KB)
- Day trips to Hallstatt a world heritage area - quaint wooden roofed, historic town built straight out of the Hallstattersee lake and famous for its Saltmines and burial grounds. Access by bus, contact St Gilgen Tourist information office for local timetables. information@wolfgangsee.at
- Day trip to Bad Ischl - famous Royal Spa town, a minature Vienna surrounded by mountains and fast flowing rivers and easily accessible by car or bus (approx 40 minutes by car) with a regular bus service also running to St Wolfgang
- Day trips to Mondsee and the lake - the sound of music was filmed at Mondsee church. Regular buses run to Mondsee daily
- Visit Vienna for a minibreak - if you are feeling more adventurous, Vienna is only three hours drive from the studio with a secure park and ride scheme into the heart of the city from the town of Huttledorf just of the main A1 motorway. Click here for more information.
